영국인 교수님 일기 예시문 (written by an English professor)
Tell me about something you have done which you later realised was a big waste of time or money. For example, you studied for an exam and then didn’t take the exam, or you went to an expensive restaurant but the food didn’t taste good.
본인이 하셨던 일 중에서 나중에 돈이나 시간 낭비라고 깨달았던 일에 대해서 말씀해 주세요. 예를 들어서 시험공부 하였는데 시험을 치지 않았거나 비싼 레스토랑에 갔는데 음식이 맛이 없었던 경험이요
When I travelled to Italy, I visited Rome and of course I went to the Vatican. I enjoyed sightseeing there despite the huge crowds and long queues everywhere. After I finished sightseeing there, I wanted to have a meal. But in Italy most restaurants close after lunch time and don’t open again until the evening. I was used to Korea where everything is so convenient and I can find restaurants 24 hours a day. Eventually I found a restaurant which was obviously for tourists, but it was open. The sign said there was a special “lunch set” for about 10 Euros. The food was awful. It was frozen food cooked in a microwave, and the “dessert” was an orange which hadn’t even been cut open! And the waiter rushed me the whole time and also overcharged me by more than 50%, by adding service charges and taxes and even lying about the total. What a rip off! Terrible!
이탈리아에 여행갔을 때 로마를 방문했는데요 물론 바티칸에 갔었죠. 사람으로 엄청나게 붐볐고 어디를 가나 긴 줄을 서야 했지만 거기서의 관광은 즐겼는데요, 그곳에서의 관광이 끝난 뒤 식사를 하려고 했어요. 그러나 이탈리아는 대부분의 식당이 점심이후에 문을 닫고 저녁시간까지 열지 않아요. 전 모든것이 편리하고 24시간 내내 식당을 갈 수 있는 한국의 삶에 익숙해져 있었죠. 마침내 딱봐도 관광객들이 다니는 식당을 발견했는데 문을 열었더라고요. 대략 10유로로 특별한 점심메뉴를 먹을 수 있다는 표지를 보았어요. 음식은 정말 맛이 없었어요. 냉동음식을 그냥 전자레인지에 데운 음식이었고, 디저트는 썰지도 않는 오렌지였어요. 그리고 종업원은 계속 저를 재촉했고 서비스요금과 세금을 더해서 50% 이상 더 청구했어요. 심지어는 합계를 거짓말 하더라고요. 완전 바가지죠. 끔찍해요.
